Smrz goes fastest in combined qualifying

Jakub Smrz (Liberty Effenbert Racing Team Ducati) was the fastest rider in the second qualifying session at Donington and therefore enters the Tissot-Superpole contest later this afternoon full of confidence.

Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) was in the lead for some time but Smrz used his very last lap to ease him out.

Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) went third, with Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) completing the top four. All riders improved their times today, in dry and sunny conditions. Marco Melandri (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) completed a good session for the official BMW team by going fifth, Leon Camier (Fixi Crescent Suzuki) was sixth.
